LUNAR NEW YEAR (TET)
Tet is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. Tet is also the Chinese Lunar New Year. Tet is the most upheld Vietnamese festival and falls somewhere between late January and early February. Tet is celebrated by all Vietnamese, no matter where they are. Each beginning of the lunar year brings with it so much hope and excitement. Even the Vietnam people living out of their country feel this strong urge to go back to their country to celebrate this festival with their loved ones. This festival stretches far more than what includes the land of the living. It is believed that during the Tet, the household genies meet to celebrate yet another fruitful year of helping the people. These household genies include the Craft Creator, the Land Genie as well as the Kitchen God. And the festivities do not just stop here, long dead ancestors also join in the fun. This comes to show how the Tet is such an elaborate affair.
As you can imagine, the Tet festival can stretch out for weeks, despite it being a three-day affair. The streets and houses are decorated with fine flowers and summery colors to add to the cheerful mood. Street vendors carry flowering peach trees to sell to avid consumers. The flowering peach tree is a symbol of life and good fortune, and they add a sight that you will not see anywhere in the world. Imagine a jam-packed street in your hometown, littered with various flowering peach trees behind hand-drawn carts. It is only in during a Vietnam tour that you can scratch this off your bucket list.

LIM FESTIVAL
Another enchanting festival celebrated nowhere else but at Vietnam includes the Lim festival. This festival takes place in the Lim village, about 18 kilometers out of Hanoi on the 13th day of the first lunar month. A special folk song, Quan Ho, is performed on this merry day. Imagine your best opera singers all in one place, singing their hearts out while bringing tears to your eyes. Only this time, they are not standing stiffly on some expansively decorated stage, but rather on a narrow boat. This sort of makes things interesting as one wrong move, a push or a shove, would send the entire choir splashing into the river. Such a spectacular occurrence is yet to happen. Who knows, it may just happen during your festival tour to Vietnam!
Apart from singing on boats, the elaborate choir made up of the ‘lien anh’ (male singers) and the ‘lien chi’ (female singers) performs in pagodas and on the hills. The male singers and female singers engage each other in a melodic and beautiful dialogue that will leave a lasting impression in your heart.

THE NUI BA FESTIVAL
In Vietnam, Nui Ba is a mountain that is located in the heart of the Mekong delta, 11 kilometers from Tay Ninh located in the South Western part of Vietnam. Nui Ba Mountain is sometimes referred to as Ms. Den Mountain, after a legendary story involving a young woman called Denh. Denh (or Den) was the lovely daughter of a guard officer from the Mien ethnic community. Pressured into marrying the son of a guard officer from the Trang Bang area, she fled to a monastery in the mountain, where she would live all the days of a life as a nun. Such devotion led to her being honored as the Linh Son Thanh Mau (Saint Linh Son), and a mold of her in black bronze being cast. Stretching from the spring to the 30th day of the first lunar month, tourists from cities all around Vietnam embark on a pilgrimage to the Nui Ba Mountain to worship and sightsee. A journey to the Nui Ba mountain as you pilgrim will help you get in touch with places within you that were far out of reach before. Embark on this spiritual journey during your Vietnam festival tour this year.
