Samlor machu

Samlor machuIn Khmer, "samlor" refers to soup and "machu" mean sour. Samlor machu is a kind of sour soup which is original from Vietnam. The Cambodian cooks this dish from fish, chicken or pork to make a distinct greasy taste. For sour flavor, they use tamarind and certain tangy vegetables such as tomato and pineapple. There are many types of samlor machu all over the country. The most favored are samlor machu kroeung, samlor machu Khmer Krom, and samlor machu Siem Reap. Samlor machu kroeung involves kroeung paste, turmeric, morning glory, coriander, stewed beef ribs and tripe. Samlor machu Khmer Krom is made of tomato, pineapple, catfish, lotus root and holy basil. Samlor machu Siem Reap is featured with bamboo shoot and tiny freshwater shrimp.
