Tra Vinh Travel Guide

Tra Vinh is one of the Mekong delta provinces in the south of Vietnam, bordering with Soc Trang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre. Tra Vinh is considered as the land of buddism with more than 150 pagodas and many religious sites of the Kinh, Khmer and Chinese people. Even though Tra Vinh is not on the list of the top Vietnam holiday destinations, but if you want to explore Mekong delta in depth, a tour to Tra Vinh should be considered.

How to get there

By road: Tra Vinh is about 130km from Ho Chi Minh city and 100km from Can Tho - the heart of Mekong delta. A Vietnam tour package to Tra Vinh should be combined with visits in My Tho, Ben Tre, Vinh Long and Can Tho.

Best time to visit Tra Vinh

Tourists can visit Tra Vinh all year round. Diverse culture, religious tours, intricate rivers and tropical fruits are strong potentials of this province. However, please be advised that the rainy season is from May to November and dry season is from December to April in Mekong delta, but the weather and climate do not affect much.

Things to see in Tra Vinh

Bà Om lake: This is the picturesque lake for sightseeing. Tourists come here, can also see hundred year old trees with shades covering the lake which make Bà Om lake a watercolor painting. 

Ba Dong beach: Not the beach for swimming because the sea is not blue, but Ba Dong beach is a nice stop to enjoy wild beauty and fresh seafood.

Âng pagoda: Built in the late 10th century and known as the oldest Khmer temple in the south of Vietnam, Âng pagoda is the addres to visit and learn about Khmer's culture and religion.

Festivals: With more than 150 pagodas and religious sites, there are many festivals in Tra Vinh all year round. Ok Om Bok, My Long sea offering, Pithi Chôl Chnam Thmây, Néak Tà, Pithi Sen Đon ta festival give tourists unique experience.
