Long Hai Travel Guide
Long Hai is one of two towns in Long Dien District, Ba Ria Vung Tau province. Long Hai is about 12 km from Vung Tau city, 7km from Ba Ria, and about 100 km from Ho Chi Minh City. This is one of the tourist attractions near Saigon. The local people often choose to visit Long Hai on the weekend, or on short-time holidays. Long Hai with its long, wide beach and white sand is very suitable for those who love swimming. Best time to visit Long Hai
Tourists can visit Long Hai at any time of year as it has a cool climate all year round. However, the greatest time to travel Long Hai is from October to November when the weather is cool which is very suitable for a beach vacation, especially for witnessing the cherry blossoms.
Transportation
By bus
In order to get to Long Hai, besides self-driving vehicles (motorcycles, cars), travelers can go there by bus. However, there are not many choices of bus and during the national holidays, the bus tickets could be 40% higher than usual, not to mention some buses are not available these days.
If you intend to travel by bus, you definitely should contact the bus station to update the time and price, and booking in advance is very important. Or you can buy tickets at Mien Dong bus station. The ticket price is from 65,000 VND – 95,000 VND per person and the arrival spot is Long Hai bus station.
By motorcycle / automobile
From Ho Chi Minh City, you go along the National Road 1 to Vung Tau roundabout then turn right and follow Highway 51. When getting to Ba Ria folk, turn left to go to Long Hai. This road is easy but the distance is quite far (100km).
The other way to travel to Long Hai is that from downtown Ho Chi Minh City, you go in the direction of Cat Lai Ferry, across the Industrial Zone Nhon Trach – Quoc Lo - Long Hai. There are few trucks in this destination with more natural surroundings. This road is harder but shorter (only 20km).
If you are not used to the route to travel Long Hai, you can easily book a tour package with travel agents and you don’t have to worry about any troubles that can happen on the road.
Attractions
Minh Dam Mountain
Minh Dam is associated with the great history of Ba Ria - Vung Tau in wartime. Along the way, about halfway up the mountain, you can see the panoramic image of Long Hai with one side is pristine beach and the other side is fascinating forest. Tourists will be amazed by the stunning beauty of the natural surroundings.
Long Hai Beach
Long Hai Beach is much cleaner and less crowded that Vung Tau beach, which is very suitable for camping overnight to enjoy fresh and cool nature. It is a perfect place for get away or escaping from the hectic life. Moreover, tourists can join so many fishing activities here. It is also a great spot for sunset watching with lots of restaurants along the promenade.
Dinh Co Beach
Dinh Co Beach is located at the foot of Dinh Co Temple. It has smooth and golden sand which is very suitable for organizing sports activities or campfires, singing and dancing. Dinh Co is a really peaceful beach with gentle waves so you can go offshore to fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking nature.
Truc Lam Chan Nguyen Monastery
Located at the foot of the Minh Dam Mountain, Truc Lam Chan Nguyen Monastery is surrounded by the majestic nature. Tourists who come here will find peace of mind. Featured in the green spaces of the mountains is the main building power. It is located below the mountains with the back of big rocks in different shapes like snakes and turtles.
Long Hai Cuisines
On the way to Long Hai, if you want to buy fresh seafood at reasonable price, you can go to Long Hai market in the morning. You can also buy seafood directly from the boats of the fishermen.
